About Disney Land, Paris
On this page I am going tell you all about Disney Land and why it was built in paris. Also I am going to tell you difficulties that paris faced with this attraction and incomes.

  Why Paris?

Disney was looking for a European site the choice was between Spain and France. Spain had everything going for it - established tourist industry, the weather, sympathetic government and good air links.

Paris, however, had a large area of flat, featureless land. Disney has never wanted people to be drawn away from its parks by beautiful countryside. Also, the French government was willing to 'make it worthwhile' for Disney to build in Marne la Valee.

  Difficultys!

Although Disney believed they had hit a "gold mine" by developing their fourth theme park just outside of Paris, in time they would learn this was not the case. Euro Disneyland's target of 11 million guests in the first year was met, but profits did not roll in as had been planned. In fact, Euro Disneyland reported a million loss for the finacial year that ended in September 30, 1993, and by December 31, 1993, Euro Disneyland had amassed cumulative loss of 6.04 billion French francs or 1.03 billion US dollars.
